BAppSci (Physio) Hons
MPhysio (Pelvic Health) in progress

Prof.Cert Pelvic Organ Prolapse
Pelvic Health & Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist

Caitlin graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Sydney in 2012 and has over a decade of clinical experience.  Initially this was as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist, building a strong foundation working in a busy Sydney CBD clinic treating a wide range of conditions across the lifespan.  For the past seven years, she has focused on pelvic health, completing extensive post-graduate training, including a Professional Certificate in Pelvic Organ Prolapse through the University of South Australia.  She is currently completing a Master of Physiotherapy (Pelvic Health) at the University of Melbourne.

Caitlin’s passion for pelvic health deepened after the birth of her two boys.  Experiencing, first-hand, the physical and emotional demands of pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenting has given her a deep empathy for the women she treats.  She has also worked alongside leading Obstetricians in one of Sydney’s busiest maternity and gynaecological care hospitals, and is passionate about providing early intervention and education to reduce long-term issues. She now integrates her musculoskeletal background with her pelvic health expertise to offer an holistic and evidence-based approach to care.  Her treatment combines manual therapy, clinical exercise (including Pilates and strength training), pessary fitting, and tailored rehab programmes to support recovery and return to full function.

She has a particular interest in pelvic organ prolapse, and her training in pessary fitting and advanced conservative management enables her to support women in maintaining an active, confident lifestyle without unnecessary surgical intervention.

Caitlin believes no-one should be told to “just put up with it”. Her approach is collaborative, empowering, and tailored to each individual’s goals – whether that’s returning to high-level sport, lifting children with ease, or simply sneezing without worry.

Her main areas of clinical interest are:

  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse (including vaginal pessary fitting)
  • Bladder and Bowel Incontinence
  • Pelvic Floor Muscle Dysfunction
  • Pelvic Girdle Pain (including pubis symphysis, sacroiliac, coccygeal and deep gluteal pain) – sport, preg. or general
  • Hip, groin and lower back pain (especially unresolved, or complex cases)
  • Pre-/Post-Natal care and education
  • Abdominal Separation (Diastasis Recti)
  • Internal Pelvic Pain (including Vulvodynia, Vaginissmus, Endometriosis, Dyspareunia)
  • Mastitis
  • Paediatric continence (bedwetting, constipation)
  • Return to Sport Programmes (post-natal, post-operative or otherwise)
  • Dysynergic Defaecation
  • Clinical Pilates and Dry Needling

Fun Facts:

How did you get into pelvic physio?

I had a standout lecture on maternity physiotherapy as an undergraduate student and instantly felt drawn to it.  After working for several years in musculoskeletal physio, I found myself returning to that interest – especially after becoming a Mum.  Experiencing the physical toll of pregnancy and childbirth really opened my eyes to how poorly supported many women are during this time.  I started post-graduate study in pelvic health in 2020 (just as the pandemic hit!), and two babies and many courses later, here I am, blending the internal and external aspects of pelvic health to help people move and live well.

What are your passions in the field?

I’m especially passionate about helping people stay active, even in the face of pelvic challenges like prolapse, incontinence or pelvic pain.  I love creating tailored, practical plans that meet people where they are – whether that’s training for a marathon, lifting toddlers, or managing menopause.  My goal is always to restore confidence and function, and to help people do the things they love without fear or shame.

What would you like to see change in the world of pelvic health?

I’d love to see pelvic health support become a normal part of care across all life stages – not just something people stumble into after symptoms appear.  We need more proactive education in schools, pregnancy, and menopause care.  I’m also really passionate about peri-menopause – it’s still such an underserved area, and physio has so much to offer in supporting women through this often turbulent time.

What to do you in your spare time?

Outside of work, I’m chasing after two very energetic boys.  I love running along the Northern Beaches, swimming in the ocean, and getting into the bush for a hike whenever I can.  I’m a big reader (especially Aussie fiction), love a quiet coffee in the sun, and I’m always planning my next holiday – preferably somewhere with mountains and water.
