Sophie Edstein

Pelvic Health Physiotherapist

Sophie has recently returned from London with her family where she has spent the last 4 years working and traveling. She graduated from the University of Sydney in Australia with first-class Honours. Sophie believes women from all walks of life should be able to access quality and compassionate health care and she is passionate about and experienced in treating a broad range of Women’s Health conditions including:

  • Pelvic girdle, hip and back pain
  • Ante-natal and postnatal conditions (including abdominal separation, pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain, pelvic floor assessments, labour preparation and post natal assessments)
  • Urinary incontinence (including stress and urge incontinence)
  • Mastitis
  • Bowel disorders (including incontinence, constipation and pain associated with anal fissures)
  • Pelvic floor rehabilitation
  • Sexual pain and dysfunction
  • Chronic pelvic pain
  • Recovery following gynaecological surgery
  • Vaginal prolapse including fitting pessaries

Sophie also has a love of sports and began her physio career largely treating sporting injuries and working with both rugby and netball teams. Sophie competed at a National level in rowing and surf boat rowing. She still maintains a keen interest in treating musculoskeletal injuries within her women’s health caseload and loves helping women create safe exercise programs through all life stages.

Sophie has a particular interest in assisting women through the maintenance of fitness in pregnancy and those wishing to safely return to exercise after having a baby. After having her son Freddie, Sophie is acutely aware of the demands and growing load on a pregnant and postnatal body and appreciates that every woman’s body is different and, therefore, needs an individualised and evidenced-based approach. Sophie uses Clinical Pilates (both mat and reformer) to help achieve rehab goals with her clients.

Sophie has completed many courses and conferences both in Australia and Europe to maintain and grow her skill base and to keep up to date with evidenced-based treatment of the pelvic floor.

Outside of work Sophie enjoys keeping fit by running, reformer Pilates, outdoor training and swimming. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and cooking.
