Exciting new role for Cam Hobbs – Shoulder Physio for Shoulder Specialist Dr Graeme MacDougal

By January 2, 2018March 18th, 2024Shoulder Pain

MGS Physiotherapy has been working alongside Shoulder Specialist Dr Graeme MacDougal for some years now. The specific in house and follow up Prehab and Rehab Physio, however, has been performed by Jan Williams, a physio with many years of experience in rehab.

Jan has contributed 50 wonderful professional years working as a physiotherapist on the Northern beaches and almost 20 of those years working closely alongside Dr MacDougal, running shoulder rehabilitation programmes. We are excited to announce that our very own Cam Hobbs will be taking over her role in 2018 as she enjoys retirement.  What shoes to step into! It has been an honour to work alongside her over the past few months. We wish her all the very best for the future and recognise her invaluable contribution to the physiotherapy profession.

MGS Physiotherapy has been in Mona Vale since 2004 and in Manly since 1992. Dr MacDougal’s consulting rooms are in Suites 4 and 5, 20 Bungan Street just down the Corridor from our existing Mona Vale MGS rooms.

Cam’s role will involve seeing some of the Shoulder Surgery patients before and after their surgery, with some sessions conducted within Dr MacDougal’s rooms and others in MGS rooms. His primary role is to help educate the patients on exercises and the processes involved in going through their surgery, what outcomes to expect regarding short term discomfort, length of time in slings and supports, which exercises to avoid and which ones to start at the precise time of their rehab. He will also run post operative Hydrotherapy group classes in the new Brooke Withers Swimming Pool facility in Warriewood.

Cam has a strong interest in Shoulders, still playing high level tennis, and leaving behind a potential professional tennis career to pursue his passion in Physiotherapy. He knows what it is like to be out of sport due to an injury, and how much frustration and dedication it can take to getting back following a serious injury. We feel that he is perfectly suited to this role alongside Dr MacDougal and know that he will contribute positively to Dr MacDougal’s patient’s satisfaction rates. It is worth mentioning that not all patient’s end up requiring surgery, and Dr MacDougal is amazing at knowing when surgery is absolutely necessary, or when conservative Physio/Exercise based management is required. Either way, Cam will play a part in these patient’s management as well.
